DOLLYWOOD HOSTS DEAF AWARENESS DAY DEC. 2

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn.—Dollywood hosts Deaf Awareness Day on Dec. 2 during the park’s annual Smoky Mountain Christmas festival. Deaf Awareness Day at Dollywood includes interpretation of various shows, attractions and craft demonstrations. Interpreters will be on hand to assist hearing impaired guests throughout the day. They also will be available to assist guests in locating key park locations such as turnstiles, restrooms, first aid stations and information booths. An interpreter will be on hand for the park’s weekly church service at 5:30 p.m. in the Robert F. Thomas Chapel.

“Dollywood is especially proud of its participation in Deaf Awareness Day,” said Barbara Joines, VP/General Manager of Dollywood. “Through the talents of the many wonderful interpreters along with our employees, Dollywood’s attractions and entertainment are showcased to a most receptive audience.”

The University of Tennessee’s Educational Interpreting Program coordinates interpreters for Deaf Awareness Day at Dollywood. Approximately 60 interpreters participate in the event.
